Heena has expertise in Indigenous and Public Health, Women’s Health and community development research with a focus on chronic condition prevention and management and food security, contributing nationally and internationally.
Heena, a co-founding member of Pasifika Women’s Alliance Inc. (PWA), has engaged with culturally and linguistically diverse communities including Indigenous Australians and Māori and Pasifika peoples in promoting and advocating cultural identity and health and wellbeing. Heena is passionate about building community capacity through co-designed solutions, and integrating participatory action research, Indigenous perspectives and knowledge systems with social justice principles to promote equitable health and wellbeing. She currently leads the Pasifika Women’s Wellness Program and Feeding Our Mana - Food Security Project.
