Cate Nagle

Cate Nagle is the Professor of Nursing and Midwifery, a co-joint appointment with James Cook University and the Townsville Hospital and Health Service. In this leadership role, Cate promotes research capability building of nurses and midwives to conduct high quality research that aims to transform the health and well-being of people living in the unique context of northern Queensland.
Cate’s research program is in public health midwifery. In 2018, Cate led the development of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) Midwife standards for practice. She contributes to state and national maternity service reform and provides external review of maternity services nationally. Currently she provides leadership and oversight of numerous, strategic, professional and governance committees. Cate represents the Tropical Australian Academic Health Centre on the Australian Health Research Alliance’s National Women’s Health Research, Translation and Impact Network steering committee, and is Chair of the Workforce subcommittee.
