Shelley Wilkinson
Mater Mothers' Hospitals, QLD, Australia
Associate Professor Shelley Wilkinson is an Advanced Accredited Practising Dietitian and also has a PhD in Psychology. Prior to her recent move to be a Project Officer in Brisbane’s Mater Mothers’ Hospital’s (MMH) Department of Obstetric Medicine, she was a Principal Research Fellow in the School of Human Movement and Nutrition Sciences, UQ and before that, a dietitian at the MMH for 12 years. Her research aims to improve mothers’ and babies’ health, during and after pregnancy, by advancing nutrition care and capabilities of services and clinicians. Her work focuses on women at high risk of poor outcomes, especially those with gestational diabetes and at risk of excessive gestational weight gain. Her latest work has been collaborating to evaluate the implementation of the CSIRO Mother App at the MMH. As part of this work, she led the development of short ‘Introduction to GDM’ videos for the six most common language groups from the hospital for more equitable service entry and to free up clinician time for tailoring of support and care. This body of work was generously supported by an ADIPS-NovoNordisk Grant.
