Dr Lexie Prokopuk is a postdoctoral research scientist with expertise in female reproduction, developmental biology, and epigenetics. Her previous work has focussed on the inheritance of epigenetic factors via the oocyte (egg) and the subsequent impact on offspring development and health. In her current role at the Australian Women and Girls’ Health Research Centre, Dr Prokopuk is the Principal Project Coordinator of MadeHER, a study investigating the maternal and early life origins of adolescent menstrual disorders and pelvic pain. A key focus of MadeHER is understanding the impact that menstrual disorders and pelvic pain have on the day-to-day lives of adolescents. Dr Prokopuk draws on her experience in medical research, education, and communication to contribute to the public health sector. She is an avid supporter of empowering women and girls to advocate for their own health needs. Dr Prokopuk is passionate about improving the overall health and quality of life of women and girls living in Australia.
